The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday night at Prospera Place.

Hurricanes Captain Jordy Bellerive(26) opened the scoring just 42 seconds into the frame. Dillon Dube made an immediate impact upon drawing back into the Rockets lineup for the first time since taking part in the World Junior’s for Team Canada, ripping home his 19th of the season at 8:08 of the first to even things at 1-1. The score stayed that way into the first intermission.

4:05 into the middle stanza Conner Bruggen-Cate(11) gave the Rockets a one goal lead tipping a Kole Lind slap shot past the Hurricanes netminder. Bruggen-Cate(12) scored his second of the evening on a shorthanded breakaway at 8:52 to extend Kelowna’s lead to 3-1. Tate Olson(1) responded for the Hurricanes and the score was 3-2 after 40 minutes of play.

With 7:33 to go Taylor Ross(14) knotted the game at 3-3. Regulation time solved nothing and overtime was needed.

After killing off a penalty in overtime, Dube found Rockets Captain Cal Foote who found the back of the net for the game winner as the Rockets skate to a 4-3 overtime victory.

Brodan Salmond’s record improves to 4-4-1-0 after stopping 31 of 34 shots he faced in his first start since November 4th. The Rockets outshot the Hurricanes 37-34.

Kelowna’s record improves to 28-13-2-1.

Dillon Dube(1G, 1A) was named the games first star for his multi-point effort in his return. Conner Bruggen-Cate(2G) also enjoyed a multi-point evening.

A ceremony was held prior to the puck drop tonight as the Rockets honoured World Junior gold medal champions Cal Foote and Dillon Dube. Both players were presented with a new Hugo Boss suit from Rockets President/GM Bruce Hamilton.
