Game Night Preview: The Kelowna Rockets face the Seattle Thunderbirds for the second time in a week. Last Friday at ShoWare Center, the Rockets were a 6-2 winner. The Rockets are coming off a 4-3 overtime win Wednesday night over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes. Cal Foote scored the game winner at the 2:55 mark of the extra session. Dillon Dube, returning after missing 13 straight games, was named the 1st star with a goal and an assist. Connor Bruggen-Cate and Kole Lind also scored in the teams’ 28th win of the season. Brodan Salmond, making his first appearance in goal since November 4th earned the win. Overall, the Rockets have won 10 of their last 12 games with wins over Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Kamloops (twice), Victoria, Tri City, Calgary, Spokane, Seattle and Lethbridge. The Rockets host the Victoria Royals Saturday night before opening an Alberta road trip this Wednesday in Lethbridge, before stops in Medicine Hat and Red Deer to close out the trip.
Broadcasters Notebook: The Rockets made a deal with the Lethbridge Hurricanes January 8th, acquiring the playing rights to 19 year-old forward Ryan Bowen for a 8th round bantam pick. Ryan Bowen is the older brother of prospect Ethan Bowen….The Rockets made a deal January 7th with the Prince Albert Raiders, sending 17 year-old defenceman Konrad Belcourt to PA for a 5th and 8th round pick…The Rockets have 16 wins in their last 21 games with those four losses coming to Moose Jaw, Brandon, Swift Current, Tri City and Vancouver…The Rockets record after 44 games this season is 28-13-2-1.
