The Kelowna Rockets have selected two players in the 2017 CHL Import Draft.

With their first pick in the draft, the Rockets selected 17 year old right defenceman Libor Zabransky 51st overall. Born in Brno, CZE. Zabransky is listed at 6’1 and 181lbs. Last season while playing with HC Kometa Brno U20, the 2000 born defender played in 34 games, recording nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points. He also added a +21 plus/minus. On top of the solid regular season, Zabransky posted three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 12 post season games this year.

“Im honoured to be drafted by the Kelowna Rockets, It’s one of the best organizations in the CHL, and I’ll do everything I can to be beneficial for the team!” Zabransky exclaimed.

The Rockets weren’t finished, as they selected 111th overall as well. With that pick Kelowna opted to go with Zabransky’s HC Kometa Brno U20 teammate Marek Skvrne. Born in 1999, the right winger is listed at 6’0 and 172lbs. This season Skvrne put home eight goals and added 13 assists for 21 points in 37 games. He also had 36 PIMS.

Both players will be at the Rockets training camp in August.
