Feb. 14, 2013 – Kelowna, BC
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Everett Silvertips 4-1 on Thursday night in Kelowna, winning its second straight game over the ‘Tips.
Ryan Olsen scored twice in the win, his 29th and 30th goals of the season, as the Rockets completed a sweep of the team’s home and home series, after a win on Sunday in Everett.
Colton Sissons had a goal and two helpers for the Rockets and JT Barnett also scored for Kelowna which improved to 42-13-3-1 on the season.
The Rockets were 3 for 5 on the power play in the game.
“That was one of the better nights for our power play,” said Rockets head coach Ryan Huska on the AM1150 post game show. “It had good puck movement. We didn’t try to force anything. It was really big for us and that was nice to see.”
The Rockets will now get set for a home and home series with the Kamloops Blazers this weekend. The Rockets and Blazers will meet on Friday night in Kamloops and Saturday night in Kelowna in the first two of five meetings remaining between the rivals the rest of the season.
“They are playing well right now,” said Huska. “It’s going to be two big games for us. We have to be mentally tough, we can’t take too many penalties and give their power play opportunities,”
Tickets are available for Saturday night’s game at Prospera Place.
