The Rockford IceHogs, of the American Hockey League, announced last week that they have agreed to terms with defenceman Michael Krutil on an amateur tryout (ATO) agreement.
The IceHogs are the affiliate team for the Chicago Blackhawks. Krutil was selected by the Blackhawks in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in October.
The AHL season begins on Friday, February 5 and concludes on Sunday, May 16.
He recently attended training camp with the Blackhawks and began the 2020-21 season with HC Stadion Litomerice in the Czech Republic, adding one goal in four games. Krutil also skated in four contests for his country (no points) during the 2021 World Junior Championship.
The Kelowna Rockets, with their first-round selection in the 2020 CHL Import Draft, selected the Praha, Czech Republic product 24th overall.
Krutil, 18, is eligible to join the Rockets for the 2020-21 season.
The Western Hockey League announced on January 8 that the WHL Board of Governors has made a commitment to play a WHL 2020-21 Regular Season. The start date for the season will be determined once final approval has been received from the Health Authorities in each provincial and state jurisdiction and it is anticipated the approvals will be received soon.
