Rockets’ Salmond named WHL Goaltender of the Week

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Kelowna Rockets goaltender Brodan Salmond has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week and the league nominee for Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 12, 2017.

An 18-year-old product of Calgary, AB, Salmond went 2-0-0-0 this past week with a perfect 0.00 goals-against average, 1.000 save percentage and two shutouts.

On Friday, February 10, Salmond stopped all 22 shots sent his direction in a 6-0 win versus Vancouver, earning third star honours. The following night, Saturday, February 11, Salmond was once again perfecting, turning aside all 19 shots fired at him in a 5-0 win at Vancouver.

Through 18 appearances in his second WHL season, Salmond is 9-7-1-0 with a 2.76 GAA, .896 SV% and three shutouts.

The 5-foot-11, 187-pound goaltender is eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Originally selected by the Kelowna Rockets in the 10th round (219th) of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, Salmond has amassed a career record of 12-9-1-0 with a 2.93 GAA, .892 SV% and three shutouts in 25 career WHL regular season appearances.
