Silvertips Edge Rockets 2-1 in Overtime

The Everett Silvertips defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, snapping a nine-game home winning streak by Kelowna.

Dawson Leedahl put home a rebound 1:27 into the 3-on-3 OT to drop the Rockets record to 27-9-2-0 on the season.

It was the 10th straight game at home the Rockets earned at least a point.

The Rockets opened the scoring in the second period when second year player Dillon Dube ripped home a nice wrist shot, scoring his 14th goal of the season.

But just 25 seconds later the Silvertips tied the game as Graham Millar tied the game.

Goaltenders Jackson Whistle of Kelowna and Carter Hart of Everett held the shooters at bay for most of the game with the ‘Tips outshooting the Rockets 36-25.

The Rockets and Silvertips will meet again on New Year’s Day in Everett in a special 2:05 p.m. start from Everett on Friday before Kelowna returns to Prospera Place on Saturday to host the Victoria Royals.

Tickets are available for the Satruday game through, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
